A Classic Yepocapan Cup...
Okay, We'll be honest! When we began working with the farmers here in Yepocapa three years ago, we knew that selection and harvesting practices were key to successful coffees. For this reason, the farmers began separating out coffees from some amazing plots of land and produced their selections for us. What we didn't expect was to see this coffee surprise us on the cupping table.
For years, this is what the Cooperativa San Pedrana has sold. It made its way to France and Japan in 2003, and it also won national level recognition from exporters Fedecocagua and Anacafe in 2014; just 3 years after being hit severely by leaf rust.
It's for this reason that we're excited to source this coffee. This cup was amazingly floral and bright with some definite fruity apricot chocolates. We believe the high altitude coastal climates paired with the volcanic soil help to give this cup its fruity floral characteristics.
