Single Origin Yepocapa: San Pedrana
People in Yepocapa have been known to drink instant coffee or coffees from other regions like Acatenango or Coban. Although we're not upset that people are drinking these coffees, we thought it'd be nice for the people of Yepocapa to know that Yepocapa can also be known for excellence and quality.
After a series of cuppings and a few restaurants and coffee shops beginning to source its coffee from the farmers in Yepocapa, the people have begun to ask for "La San Pedrana" coffee and so this is where we got it's name. This coffee is a cooperative-level coffee gathered from every part and area of Yepocapa!
Of all the cups we've cupped, La San Pedrana shocked us. We originally put a lot of thought and effort into micro-lots and dismayed larger lots except for when we came across this coffee. I personally have never tasted a coffee that made my mouth salivate before. Now that we're a bit less ignorant, we believe the San Pedrana lot contains a really well balance of body and flavor coming from a mixture of variables at play including, coastal high altitude micro-climates, volcanic soil, and of course, the hard work of each farmer!
We're excited to continue to source this coffee for years to come! It's a tasty coffee I'd like to see on store shelves knowing it comes from a group of small plot coffee farmers in Yepocapa, Guatemala that are collectively working to make coffee more tasty and coffee farming more sustainable year after year.
